Playa Blanca Holidays
Looking for a holiday destination that guarantees plenty of sunshine? Then plump for Playa Blanca – the second largest resort on the Canary Island of Lanzarote. Where temperatures tend to average out at 23 degrees all year round and where rainfall is very scarce indeed – making this ideal as both a winter and summer holiday destination.
Playa Blanca can be found right at the southern end of Lanzarote, which explains why its climate is that much better than the other main resorts on the island. And as a result it is very popular with visitors from countries such as Germany, Eire, Spain and the UK. Despite expanding rapidly during the 1990´s it has managed to still retain much of its peaceful, village feel. And boasts plenty of great beaches for visitors to enjoy along with lots of great places to stay.
There are lots of choices for tourists seeking self catering accommodation with a wide array of apartments and villas in Playa Blanca available for rental. Most of these apartments are located on good quality complexes with plenty of facilities and amenities. Whilst virtually all of the holiday villas in Playa Blanca come equipped with their own private swimming pools.
Playa Blanca is a great resort for those who like to soak up the sun as there are some wonderful beaches here. The largest and most popular of these is called Playa Dorada, which is located to the west of the resort centre. Whilst the most central beach is smaller and called Playa Blanca. Playa Flamingo to the east completes this trio. And there are even more options just a fifteen minute walk away at Papagayo – or parrot in Spanish.
All of these beaches can be reached via a single seafront promenade which unites the whole resort. This is also where tourists will find a large selection of good quality fish restaurants too. Along with a wide array of shops.
For those keen to explore it’s possible to book day trips to the neighbouring Canary Island of Fuerteventura, as ferries make the crossing from Playa Blanca hourly throughout the day. And here tourists can enjoy the huge sand dunes of the Corralejo National Park. Back on Lanzarote they can also take a tour of the islands number one attraction, the Timanfaya National Park. Home to hundreds of volcanoes which blew their tops during eruptions in the 1730´s.
I have been to Playa Banca a few years back, and I can easily say it was one of the most enjoyable vacation I have had. Playa Blanca beaches enjoy an excellent all-year-round climate. I was there in my winter holidays and surprisingly I still enjoyed it because of its exceptionally mild temperatures! My most enjoyable experience was the watersports available at the beaches, along with that I also indulged in scuba diving at the scuba diving centre at my resort.
I would definitely agree with Ariel because my family and I had a lot of great memories here. My two children really enjoyed the stay in the place and so as my wife but the best part is the food and the cleanliness of the place. If you want really to have a great place that you would certainly enjoy I would personally recommend Playa Blanca.
Playa Dorada is literally translated as The Golden Beach and this is certainly an accurate description with its warm honey coloured sand. The sea around Playa Dorada is generally very calm and it is a popular spot with residents who take a morning swim here. It is a 10 minute walk from the centre of Playa Blanca and is well served by shops and cafes.
Although some of the villa developments around the edge of the town are fairly faceless, it is — on the whole — developing into a very nice town which seems to have learnt from the mistakes made by other resorts, both on Lanzarote and the other Canary Islands. There has been investment in infrastructure as well as the holiday villas and hotels.
Loved Playa Blanca, it’s a lovely part of the world! Eight of us including two young children loved the local restaurant, Le Lambola. They were truly amazing, especially with the kids! I’ve never been to a restaurant that was so welcoming and indeed would prepare anything we wanted so at times you could just forget the menu. You just don’t get that sort of service here in England. If you like lasagna then you have to try the one served there its fantastic!!! If they ever read this thread, which I doubt, I would truly like to thank them on behalf of myself and my family. If we ever go back we will definitely be visiting this restaurant on many occasions again
Playa Blanca is a well kept secret as many people do not stay there. It has a good beach and a lovely marina and harbour which do tourist boat rides around the area and to Fuerteventura, which I would recommend doing as there is an unbelievable beach just outside Coralejio which the boats go to. If you get a taxi there ask for the Riu beach. Playa Blanca has good entertainment at night time and during the day and lovely restaurants (would recommend Lani’s Tex Mex by the marina and L’Artiste which is located just steps up from a path going past a tiny beach with many restaurants near. And if you have time, do visit the water park in Costa Teguise, and shopping centre and a lovely restaurant called La Dolce Vite in Peurto del Carmen (the Timanfaya National Park is not much to do and not that great)
Playa Blanca, I don’t know where to begin?! The weather is so much better on this side of the island, restaurant staff are amazing, I would particularly like to recommend Varadero and Romantica. I have been here many times (around 6) and my family love it so much we are considering moving there (well not considering the house is up for sale!).
Playa Blanca’s one advantage is that their temperature which makes it a perfect destination for both winter and summer holidays. Your article contains various useful details which are helpful for us.
Thanks.
I was just talking to the family about where we should go this year. After seeing this, Hawaii looks much less lucrative, and I’m sure I could save a pretty penny by going here instead. I checked Google Images for Playa Blanca and it pulled up some beautiful beach front scenery. The comments here about how people enjoyed their trips to the area will be helpful in deciding where to go this year.
